Selimiye Foundation

Selimiye Foundation has been established by progressive Turks to support the education of Turkish youth in Australia.

The charter of the Foundation aims to improve the education, the culture and the social level of all Australians, primarily the Turkish community, by establishing schools, dormitories, youth camps and rehabilitation centres for disadvantaged youth. The objectives of the charter also include the use and support of media elements to achieve its educational aims and the organizing of international humanitarian campaigns.

The Australian multiculturalism policy is strongly embraced by Selimiye Foundation. As such, all educational activities are designed according to this policy and aims to raise a golden generation who will become role models in the building of a tolerant society with multicultural values.

Selimiye Foundation, the first foundation of the Turkish community, is a non-profit organization. Thanks to the generous donations (which are tax deductible) of the community, the Foundation has been making progress. Fairs and auctions are also organized to provide scholarships for students of all year levels.

Selimiye Foundation has organised many activities on the base of its unshakeable belief in the productivity of investing in humanity. The major achievement of the Foundation is opening schools where new generations of the Australian Turkish community can learn not only about science and technology but also about their culture and universal moral values.
